A Gift for Graduation

What should I ask for for my highschool graduation gift from my parents? I was thinking a nice digital camera, but am not sure what would be good without being too expensive. I haven’t been able to think of anything else. I already have a laptop (that I need to update internetwise and hook up to a printer). A car is not going to happen. I’m not really into any instruments that I need anything for (at least, not as a grad present ;-) )

Any ideas?
If you think the camera idea is good, what should I look for to get the most for my parents’ money?

  1. That sounds like a good idea (the camera, that is). I have no idea what is a good deal these days regarding digital cameras, though.

  2. Camera sounds like a good idea, but just make sure that it has long battery life. I have a digital camera and it runs the juice out of the batteries very fast.

  3. Do you use nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries?

  4. I suppose contacts could be a graduation gift…

  5. I use Lithium batteries. They aren’t cheep but they seem to last a while….I’ve never seen NiMH

  6. They’re expensive, but they last way longer than AAs.

  7. I think it is best to get rechargeable batteries. You still have to change them and recharge them, but they last a long time. I have eight rechargeable batteries and my camera uses two at a time (I can have four charging, two in my camera and two extra if the other two run out). I have used them in my camera for almost a year and before that I used them in other stuff and thay are still working. The batteries I have take 15 hours to charge, but there are some that only take 25 or 30 min. to charge.

  8. A digital camera sounds like a very good choice. Hannah might be able to help you better than me, though, when it comes to what kind.

As for other ideas, I have no idea what you would be interested in, but my parents gave me a choice between an iPod and a cell phone. It was a hard choice, but I chose the iPod, and I haven’t regretted it. :) Then again, I live on music so it really has gotten me through my first semester of college. I don’t go anywhere on campus without it, and it does an awesome job of reducing stress. I love it!!

  11. Okay, that’s 100% weird. Let me try again: *plans ways to catch Caleb unawares at school and snap many candid photos of him* Just kidding!

  12. 100% weird? Not just 95% maybe?

  14. Hey, it’s not like you never see me anywhere Kitty. It’s just not very often.

    Comment by Caleb Martin — January 19, 2006 @ 5:04 pm

  15. true. Why do you dislike having pictures of yourself taken so?

    Comment by Kitty Pryde — January 19, 2006 @ 7:11 pm

  16. Not so much pictures, but bad pictures; they usually don’t look good. Why do people like taking pictures of me?

    Comment by Caleb Martin — January 19, 2006 @ 11:25 pm

  17. the quality of a picture is often in the eyes of the beholder. I suspect that is why people often don’t like pictures of themselves. Do other people (whose taste and opinion you trust) say they’re bad pictures?

perhaps because you are a friend and you pose a challenge. *shrug*

  18. I’m really thinking of contacts now. I’m tired of glasses, can’t afford lasik (not sure I’d want to, yikes!), I’m going to be in a wedding (yay!) which means wedding pictures too, and then I’d have them going into college. All of that is if I can stand them. I think it’s worth a try. Or maybe a cell phone (mainly for emergency use).

I don’t suppose anyone who can’t see this on the dashboard looks down here anymore?

  19. I see all… mwahahaha. ;-)

    Comment by Caleb Martin — February 28, 2006 @ 3:06 am

  20. You see all, Hm? That’s why you don’t need glasses (Be grateful, be very grateful). But nothing to say? *shrug* okay.

  21. Nope. Nothing to say. Sorry.
